Production Crew (Part-Time, Contract)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The City of Orillia has various openings for part-time contract Production Crew positions in the Business Development, Culture and Tourism Department at the Orillia Opera House.

DUTIES

  • Assist with the set-up, operation and maintenance of staging, lighting and audio-visual equipment required for theatre bookings including movies, performances, and meetings.
  • Assist with the execution of a safe load in/out from outside of the Opera House from the entrance to loading at the stage door and prepare the theatrical equipment on stage.  Also includes off-site locations including, but not limited to, the Rotary Aqua Theatre, Band Shell or Stephen Leacock Museum).
  • Familiarity with costume, set and prop construction materials to help accommodate specific stage requirements. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A two-year college diploma within the technical production field or four years work experience in live events.
  • Knowledge of various types of stage equipment and procedures.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • An acceptable Criminal Record Check is required for this position, at the incumbents expense, prior to the employment start date.

Compensation for this position is $17.78 to $18.31 per hour. Hours of work will vary and will include evenings and weekends.
