Facility Operator (Casual Part-Time)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The City of Orillia has an opening for the contract position of Facility Operator in the Facilities, Climate Change and Operations Division Environment and Infrastructure Services Department.
DUTIES
- Perform general maintenance, permit set-up/tear-down, and cleaning to ensure the safe operation of the recreation ice facilities.
- Maintain facility buildings, keeping windows, walls, entrances, windows and change rooms clean. General repairs and painting as needed.
- Open, clean, disinfect, restock and close park washroom buildings throughout the city.
- Maintain storage areas and cleaning equipment, materials and supplies in a safe and orderly manner to ensure the safety of other staff and the public.
- Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action.
- Complete daily incident/log records, as required.
- Communicate with the public and user groups in a courteous and efficient manner to promote a high standard of public relations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment.
- Previous experience as a facility operator with additional experience in cleaning and general building maintenance.
- Strong physical dexterity and experience operating equipment such as trucks, mowers, floor scrubbers, power tools and hand tools.
- Current First aid and CPR training an asset.
- Must possess a valid class G driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract.
- Strong customer service, organizational and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment with minimal supervision.
The successful candidates is required to obtain an acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check at their expense, prior to the beginning of employment.
Hours of work will vary depending on the requirements of the individual facilities. Evening and weekend shifts are required for this position.
Compensation for this position is $17.76 to $21.70 per hour. Interested applicants are invited to submit their application by November 15, 2024, at noon.
