Inclusion Coordinator (Contract)
The City of Orillia is seeking a dynamic Inclusion Coordinator to join our team in the Recreation, Youth and Culture Services Division of the Corporate Services Department. Reporting directly to the Program Coordinator, the Inclusion Coordinator will manage the summer inclusion program, including administration, supervision, training, and coordination. This role involves working directly with children with various abilities to create a fun and safe camp experience.
DUTIES
- Responsible for creating, developing, and implementing the Inclusion Program for summer day camps.
- Lead the pre-planning and preparation for camp, including daily schedules, participant recruitment and enrollment, application processes, and excursion planning, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and program needs.
- Responsible for scheduling staff throughout the summer, ensuring that staffing levels remain within budget. Ensuring the schedule maintains an appropriate staff-to-camper ratio, making sure the trained and proper staff are always present.
- Collaborate with the Camp Coordinator to adapt the Day Camp program for campers of all abilities and needs.
- Oversee the delivery of inclusion services within the summer day camp programs.
- Provide leadership, training, and coordination for all summer program staff to ensure a cohesive and effective team.
- Work directly with children with various abilities to create a fun and safe camp experience.
- Oversee and evaluate the Inclusion Counselor staff team to maintain high standards of care and engagement.
- Monitor facility accommodations to meet activity and safety needs.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations of the Inclusion Program to ensure quality and effectiveness.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers of participants throughout the program duration.
- Direct management of the City of Orillia day camps behavior procedure which includes being the liaison with caregivers whose participant may need to removed from the day camp program in accordance with this procedure.
- Assist with Camp Coordinator duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
- Be the first to respond to emergency situations, providing support and guidance while coordinating with supervisors as needed.
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures, and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training sessions to ensure ongoing professional development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two years of experience working with children, preferably in a day camp or recreation environment.
- Relevant degree or diploma in Education, Recreation, Child Development, or a related field.
- Behavioral Management System (BMS) certification from an accredited association, organization, or institution is required. This training will be provided by the City of Orillia and confirmation of ability to attend this training will be asked upon application.
- Valid G driver’s license.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification from an accredited organization is required. Please see below for the dates the above qualifications are being offered. Applicants are required to obtain this training prior to their start date.
- High Five- Principles of Health Child Development is required. Please see below for the dates the above qualifications are being offered. Applicants are required to obtain this training prior to their start date.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage a staff team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with staff, campers, and parents.

This position is a seasonal contract position with full-time hours that includes evening and weekend shifts. The successful candidate will be required to obtain an acceptable Criminal Record Check with current Vulnerable Sector Check at their own expense prior to the employment commencement date.
