Preschool Instructor (Contract)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia has an opening for the casual position of Preschool Instructor in the Recreation, Youth and Culture Division of the Corporate Services Department. The current opening is for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning as well as Monday and Wednesday evenings, beginning in February, 2025.
DUTIES
- Lead and instruct a variety of “Baby & Me” Programs for parents with their babies aged 3 months- 12 months including: Baby & Me: Art Explorers, Baby & Me: Baby Beats, Baby & Me: Discovery Place and Baby & Me: Tummy Time.
- Lead and instruct a variety of preschool and kids programming including: Homeschool Hands On Experiments, Kinder Prep and Kids Zone.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by enforcing program rules and regulations in alignment with established procedures.
- Promote a positive and enjoyable learning environment while maintaining a focus on participant safety and engagement.
- Assist with general cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Administer first aid when necessary and perform additional duties as required to support program success.
- Execute other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the program and participants.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in instructing or teaching is highly valued.
- Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR is mandatory.
- Instructors should possess strong confidence in their teaching abilities.
- Excellent customer service skills are essential for fostering positive participant interactions.
- A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position at the incumbent’s expense prior to the employment commencement date.
- A valid Ontario class G driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract is required.
