Records and Information Management (Contract)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Corporation of the City of Orillia has an opening for one part-time Records and Information Management contract position in the Council Services Division of the Corporate Services Department. Reporting to the Assistant Clerk / Committee Coordinator / Records Manager, this position will work with the Administrative Support - Records Coordinator for duties listed below.

 

DUTIES                                  

  • Prepare and organize correspondence, perform data entry and word processing functions.
  • Assist with archival / filing projects by following a prescribed set of rules to store or destroy files.
  • Provide support in developing electronic file plans and establishing metadata requirements.
  • Provide support to digitization projects, including culling, sorting, identifying records and providing quality control.
  •  Prepare records for shipping and transfer (requires ability to physically lift and handle up to approximately 15 kg)
  • Assist with tasks related to physical (paper) records and information management, digitization and indexing updates.
  •  Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Enrollment in, or recent completion of, a post-secondary educational program related to Library Science, Archives and Records Management is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, with a high degree of accuracy, have an ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and adhere to deadlines with effective time management skills.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated, self-starter with a willingness to learn, who can work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving, judgment capabilities, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365 Products including SharePoint, advanced photocopy functions and internet use.
  • Ability to move records storage boxes weighing up to 15 kg from heights up to four meters using a rolling safety ladder when necessary.
  • An acceptable Criminal Records Check is required for this position prior to the commencement date, at the incumbent’s expense.

 

This is a casual contract position. Compensation for this one-year position is $19.78 to 20.38 per hour for 24 hours per week. Interested applicants are invited to apply by January 17, 2025 at noon.
