
Sport Coordinator (Part-Time)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia is seeking a Sport Coordinator within the Parks and Recreation Division of the Environment and Infrastructure Services Department. This position will play a key role in managing summer sport leagues and recreational programs.
DUTIES
- Assist with the planning and on-site supervision of seasonal leagues including Orillia Girls Softball League, Spring/Summer Adult Hockey League, and 7-on-7 Soccer League.
- Coordinate, schedule, and manage drop-in skating programs and rockwall activities, including oversight of rockwall maintenance and training.
- Enforce league rules and procedures to ensure fair play and program consistency.
- Audit and manage league and program equipment and supplies, ensuring safe and effective program delivery.
- Ensure effective scheduling and communication of league and program logistics.
- Act as the primary contact for participants, parents, coaches, and officials during league nights to answer questions, resolve issues, and promote a welcoming environment.
- Support the development and communication of league schedules, including game times, locations, and playoff formats.
- Coordinate with staff, officials, and volunteers to ensure schedule accuracy and coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with participants, staff and parents/guardians.
- Intermediate computer skills using MS Office Suite including Outlook, Excel and Word. Experience with ActiveNet software is considered an asset.
- Experience working directly with sport leagues and/or programs
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with participants, staff and parents/guardians.
- Post Secondary Education in Sports Management or Recreation or relevant experience.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification from an accredited organization.
- A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (CRC/VSC) is required prior to the employment commencement date, at the incumbent's expense.
- A Valid Class G Ontario driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle is required for this position.
Compensation for this position is $23.39 to $24.10 per hour. This position requires working 25 hours per week, Sunday to Thursday including some evenings. Interested applicants are invited to submit an application by July 23, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
