The City of Orillia is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Supervisor, Orillia Recreation Centre Operations
Reporting to the Manager of the Orillia Recreation Centre, the Supervisor, Orillia Recreation Centre Operations is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and monitoring of facility operations at the Orillia Recreation Centre (ORC). This position oversees all associated staff, including scheduling and managing shift changes. The Supervisor ensures the proper maintenance and operation of the Orillia Recreation Centre amenities, and equipment in a cost-effective and timely manner, while providing leadership in cross-departmental coordination to ensure seamless operations.
The City of Orillia offers a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package, and registration with the OMERS pension plan. The salary for this position is $90,879 to $106,316 based on a 40-hour work week.

Position Synopsis and Purpose
Reporting to the Manager of the Orillia Recreation Centre, the Supervisor, Orillia Recreation Centre Operations is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and monitoring of facility operations at the Orillia Recreation Centre (ORC). The Orillia Recreation Centre is a multi-use recreation facility including aquatic center, fitness centre, gymnasium and multipurpose rooms. This position oversees all associated staff, including scheduling and managing shift changes.

In addition, all necessary personal protective equipment must be used and maintained in good condition.
Decision Making and Independence
1. Examples of the types of decisions that are made or issues/situations that are dealt with on a regular basis and how judgement is used to resolve them.
- This position manages day-to-day operational issues at the Orillia Recreation Centre, including scheduling adjustments, maintenance priorities, and responding to service disruptions. Judgment is used to assess the impact on users, allocate resources effectively, and maintain service quality.
- This position evaluates maintenance and repair needs for aquatic and fitness operations, as well as facility operating systems. Judgment is used to determine urgency, coordinate service calls, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and budget requirements.
2. Examples of situations or problems that are referred to the supervisor for direction or resolution.
- Complex labour relations matters, including potential grievances beyond the first step or disciplinary actions requiring senior management involvement.
- Situations involving significant capital budget changes, unplanned large-scale expenditures, or facility closures that may affect service delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- College Diploma in Recreation and Leisure, Facility Management or a related discipline.
- Thorough knowledge of Public Pool regulation 565 including design, operations and maintenance including holding certification as a Certified Pool Operator (CPO).
- Qualifications in one or more of the following areas: Registered Recreation Facility Administrator, Certified Pool Operator (CPO), Building Management and Operations considered an asset.
- Emergency First Aid, CPR certification.
Experience
- Minimum three years’ experience at a management level in a municipal recreation setting.
- Considerable expertise in facilities management, including pool operations and cleaning.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability
- Knowledge and experience working in compliance with the relevant Federal and Provincial legislated Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as Fire Code, Building Code, Occupiers, Electrical Safety Authority, TSSA, etc.
- Strong interpersonal, supervisory, judgment, initiative, written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent employee and customer relation skills; experience with volunteer and community organizations.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail.
- Experience with Active Network recreation software is considered an asset.
Physical Demands
- Sitting, standing, or walking. Work is conducted in a standard office environment with continual visual concentration required.
Position Requirements
- Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
- A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check is required prior to the commencement date.
- A willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Position requires after-hours response to emergency and critical operational issues.
