
Park/Facility Operator (Contract)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia has an opening for the contract position of Park/Facility Operator for approximately six months in the Facilities, Climate Change and Operations Division of the Environment and Infrastructure Services Department. The current opening is for evening and weekend shifts.
DUTIES
- Responsible for all aspects of recreation facility operations, which includes but is not limited to pool operations, arena ice operations, curling ice operations, building maintenance and cleanliness, permit set-up/clean-up, and the assembly and disassembly of equipment for various park activities and recreation usages.
- Perform maintenance, general caretaking and other facility operational duties to ensure the safe operation of arenas, pools and other recreation facilities.
- Maintain facility buildings, keeping windows, walls, entrances and change rooms clean. General repairs and painting as needed.
- Communicate with the public and user groups in a courteous and efficient manner to promote a high standard of customer service. Investigate and resolve complaints.
- Shift work is required for this position including evening and weekend shifts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in facility cleaning and general building maintenance.
- Must possess either a valid Basic Refrigeration certificate and/or Certified Pool Operator certificate.
- A valid Ontario class G driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract is required.
- Current First aid and CPR training.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Strong customer service, organizational and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
- Strong physical dexterity.
- A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position at the incumbent’s expense prior to the employment commencement date.
QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED ASSETS
- Previous experience as a facility operator.
- Certified Ice Technician (CIT) or Certified Aquatic Technician (CAT) designations would be assets.
- Experience operating equipment such as floor scrubbers, trucks, mowers, ice resurfacer, etc.
- Experience operating power tools and hand tools.
Compensation for this position is $25.13 to $28.82 per hour for a 40-hour work week. Interested applicants are invited to submit their applications by May 15, 2025 at noon.
