
Poverty Reduction Working Group Staff Resource (Part-Time)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia has an opening for the part-time position of Poverty Reduction Working Group Staff Resource in the Planning and Housing Division of the Development Services and Engineering Department for approximately 1 year.
DUTIES
- Assist the Poverty and Reduction Working Group with the mandate of:
- Reviewing and evaluating recommendations of the Poverty Reduction Action Plan and determining the possibility, practicality, and impactful ways to implement the recommendations.
- Recommending a long-term governance plan that explores various options, potential partnerships, budget, and resource requirements.
- Assesses measurements of success for recommendations and develop a long-term reporting framework.
- Consulting with local service agencies to coordinate efforts, avoid duplication, and maximize resources in implementing recommendations.
- Further engaging with the Orillia community and those who have experienced or are experiencing poverty in developing the above-noted mandates.
- Manage and maintain communication tools including website updates, information bulletins, public presentations to Council, community groups and the media.
- Research and secure funding opportunities for such initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and statistics.
- Establish, track and evaluate the impact of the poverty reduction strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent, with additional education in a related field is an asset.
- Experience working with Poverty Reduction Working Groups is an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and judgment skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent computer skills using MS Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Possess a valid class ‘G’ Ontario Drivers’ license with access to a reliable vehicle.
- A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check is required for this position at the incumbent’s expense, prior to the employment commencement date.
- A flexible work schedule, with weekend and evening work required.
Compensation for this position is $23.39 to $24.10 per hour based on a 24-hour work week. Interested applicants are invited to submit their application by July 9th, 2025, at noon.
