The City of Orillia is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Capital Project Specialist.

 

Reporting to the Manager of Capital Programs, the Capital Project Specialist is responsible for the implementation of various facility, parks and City property capital projects to optimize City assets, extend useful life and support City services and functions.

 

Candidates must possess a minimum three year diploma or degree in Engineering or related discipline, as well as a minimum of three years of experience implementing projects, preferably in a municipal environment. This position requires excellent computer skills including MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, e-mail, and the internet.

 

The City of Orillia offers a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package, and registration with the OMERS Pension Plan. The salary for this position is $90,879 to $106,316 based on a 40-hour work week.

  • Using project management methodology and tools, deliver a variety of facility, park and City property projects with planning, design, tender, construction and commissioning.
  • Ensure projects are consistent implemented with identified scope, on budget and on schedule, and of high quality.
  • Apply solutions considering on-going operational and maintenance effectiveness.
  • Bring forward project issues in a timely manner and work in partnership to resolve.
  • Report regularly on project status and progress.
  • Stakeholder consultation and potential community meetings will require project work after-hours and/or on weekends. Weekly hours will be adjusted accordingly, where possible, to accommodate.

Physical Demands

Position Requirements

  • Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle. 
  • A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check is required prior to the commencement date.
  • Attendance at meetings, seminars and conferences as required.
