
School Break Program Instructor (Part-Time)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The City of Orillia is seeking School Break Program Instructors to join our team in the Parks and Recreation Division of the Environment and Infrastructure Services Department. School Break Program Instructors support the delivery of high-quality, seasonal recreation programs during winter break and March break.
DUTIES
- Complete required documentation such as attendance records and incident/accident forms.
- Lead and support indoor and outdoor camp activities, including crafts, games, snow play, and sledding.
- Act as Skate Patrol during open community skates to promote safety, provide guidance, and support a positive experience for participants.
- Facilitate the Rotary Place Rock Wall during open hours, ensuring proper use of equipment and adherence to safety procedures.
- Promote an inclusive, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all participants.
- Support the supervision and safety of children and families during all activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and engage children and families in recreational activities.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current Standard First Aid / CPR C / AED from an accredited organization.
- Rock Wall Facilitation training (provided during onboarding)
- A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required prior to start.
- Experience working with children in a camp, recreation, or educational setting is considered an asset.

- Winter Break Camp Leader | Dec 22, 23, 29, 30 2025 & Jan 2, 2026, | 9:00 A.M to 4:30 P.M
- March Break Camp Leader | March 16 to 20 2026 | 9:00 A.M to 4:30 P.M
The starting wage for this position is $17.72 - $19.78 per hour based on qualifications. Must be available to work part-time seasonal hours, including weekdays during school breaks. Interested applicants are invited to submit an application by July 23, 2025 at 4:00 P.M.
