Front of House Supervisor Level I (Part-Time)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The City of Orillia has an opening for a part-time, contract position of Front of House Supervisor I. The Front of House Supervisor I is responsible for assisting in the supervision of the Event staff and volunteers on event days at the Orillia Opera House. This position assists with all activities and controls audience traffic before, during and after shows.
DUTIES
- Responsible for supervising event staff and volunteers during events.
- Ensure each event runs smoothly and liaises with the Front of House Supervisor II, Audience Services Coordinator, Client Services Coordinator and technical staff regarding any issues.
- Once event is complete, provide any details which should be included in the show reports.
- Help respond to visitor inquiries. Perform guided tours when required.
- Assist with training event staff and volunteers.
- Assist with the operations of a concession or merchandise stand which can include sales, cleaning or maintaining inventory.
- Act as an ambassador for both the Orillia Opera House and Visit Orillia, acting as first point of contact for patrons and tourists.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A diploma in Business Administration or similar or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work well in a team setting.
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
- Ability to manage cash and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills using MS Office applications.
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
- SMART Serve and Food Handling Certification.

A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check is required prior to the employment commencement date.
Compensation for this position is $18.40 per hour plus 4% vacation pay. Hours of work vary, and include evening, weekend, holidays and occasional daytime shifts.
