JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia is seeking a dynamic Sports Attendant (Contract) within the Parks and Recreation Division of the Environment and Infrastructure Services Department.

DUTIES
- Monitor operations across multiple disciplines, including Skate Patrol, Rock Wall Instruction, Time Keeping and League Instruction.
- Facilitate recreational programming, including the Orillia Dodgeball League, the Orillia Volleyball League, and timekeeping for the Orillia Adult Recreational Hockey League.
- Ensure participant’s safety and well-being by enforcing facility and program rules on rinks, climbing walls, and fields per municipal procedures.
- Promote a positive, inclusive environment while maintaining a sharp focus on participant safety, sportsmanship, and high community engagement.
- Set up, take down, and assist with general cleaning and maintenance of sports equipment and spaces to ensure a safe environment.
- Respond first to emergencies, performing first aid, providing immediate support, and coordinating with supervisors as needed to ensure safety.
- Participate in staff meetings and training to ensure ongoing professional development and alignment with municipal program goals.
- Adhere to and enforce Corporate Policies, Safety Standards, and Confidentiality Guidelines, performing other related duties as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR is mandatory.
- Excellent customer service skills are essential for fostering positive participant interactions.
- Prior experience in sports instruction, timekeeping, or ice skating is highly valued.
- A current, acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required at the incumbent’s expense prior to starting employment.
Hours of work vary, up to 44 hours per week and include evening and weekend shifts, as well as some holidays with a contract end date of June 30, 2027. Compensation for this position is $18.30 - $18.83 per hour.
