Program Instructor - Seniors at Play (Contract)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Corporation of the City of Orillia is seeking a part-time Program Instructor – Seniors at Play (contract position) within the Parks and Recreation Division. The current opening requires availability on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

DUTIES

  • Set up, lead, monitor, and clean up a variety of programs, such as shuffleboard, carpet bowling, card games, and other recreational activities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by enforcing rules and regulations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Promote a positive and enjoyable environment while maintaining a focus on participant safety and engagement.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and scheduling specialized activities and events for the Seniors at Play program.
  • Support the creation and implementation of marketing materials to promote the Seniors at Play program.
  • Assist with general cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Administer first aid when necessary and perform additional duties as required to support program success.
  • Execute other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the program and participants.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience working with older adults is highly valued.
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR C/AED from an accredited organization.
  • Excellent customer service skills are essential for fostering positive participant interactions.
  • A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required prior to the employment commencement date, at the incumbent’s expense.
  • A valid Ontario class G driver’s Licence.

Compensation for this position is $18.83 per hour with availability for Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M. Interested applicants are invited to submit an application by April 10, 2026, at noon.
