Collection/Distribution System Operator
The City of Orillia is less than 90 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area. The City of Orillia is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Collection/Distribution System Operator.

Reporting to the Manager of Collection and Distribution, the Collection/Distribution System Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Water Distribution and Supply Subsystem Class 3 and the Wastewater Collection Facility Class 2 Systems which includes all appurtenances associated. The position is on an on-call rotation.
Candidates must possess a post-secondary diploma in a related field, a minimum OIT Certificate (with Entry Level Course) and ‘DZ’ Ontario drivers’ licence required for hiring. MECP Class III Water Distribution and Supply Certificate and Class II Wastewater Collection Licence preferred.
The City of Orillia offers a competitive wage and benefits package, and registration with the OMERS pension plan. The wage range for this position is $30.56 to $34.77 per hour (October 2026 rates) based on a 40-hour work week.

Position Synopsis and Purpose

*Note: All activities are expected to be performed in a safe manner, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, along with Corporate Safety policies, procedures and programs. In addition, all necessary personal protective equipment must be used and maintained in good condition.
Minimum Qualifications
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- Two year post secondary diploma in related field, an asset.
- Minimum OIT Certificate (with Entry Level Course) required for hiring.
Experience
- MOE Class III Water Distribution and Supply Certificate and Class II Wastewater Collection License preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability
- Working knowledge of current City by-laws, ministry standards, and provincial and federal regulations and guidelines related to water treatment and wastewater collection.
Physical Demands
- Physical demand requires field work in outside weather conditions and may be exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Confined space and fall arrest equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required in accordance with City policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

- Possess a valid class ‘DZ’ Ontario driver’s license with an acceptable drivers' abstract.
